Preschool 2 Class

Preschool 2 is for children 4.5 -6 years of age with an Educator to children of 1:10.

 

 

 

In particular, the preschool program:

  • encourages independence and development of self-esteem
  • provides a combination of structured and self-directed activities
  • encourages awareness of the outside world
  • assists in establishing intellectual, emotional, physical and social skills
  • provides guidance in a secure environment from warm and caring educators.

The Preschool 2 room also provides before and after-kindergarten care. It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to arrange for transport to and from the centre to the Kindergarten program of your choice.

9:15-9:45 Morning snack Children take responsibility for personal care and learn about food and nutrition
9:45-10:15 Morning activity Playful exploration and problem solving: access to a wide variety of materials and equipment.
10:15-11:00 Physical health Children explore body and movements: participating in a variety of physical activities indoor or outdoor.
11:00- 11:45 Lunch Growing confidence in self-care routines.
11:45-12:00 Small group activity Children learn through communicable practices: extend ideas and take actions using language.
12:00-2:00 Outdoor Activity/ Quite time Releasing and restoring energy in indoor/ outdoor spaces.
2:00-2:15 Story time Children create imaginary scenarios in which they explore new possibilities and take possession of their world.
2:15-3:00 Afternoon snack Making decisions about food consumption, serving, and clean up.
3:00-4:00 Afternoon activity Multimodal literacies: children engage with symbols and practices of language, music, math, art, and drama.
4:00-6:00 Sensory activity Children develop dispositions for flexible and fluid thinking.
