Staying Active

At the Child Enrichment Centre our staff work hard to ensure children enjoy activities that keep their minds and bodies engaged and active. We have a regularly scheduled time for the children to play outside in either a nearby playground or our covered courtyard which enables them to enjoy the outdoors for up to three hours per day in summer and one hour in winter, weather permitting.

We make learning fun by having the children regularly visit the nearby Cedars Villa Extendicare in company with entertainer Rick Hertert and his guitar to sing, make art and share stories with the residents. We also take the children on twice-yearly field trips to venues that have included Butterfield Acres, Granary Road, Heritage Park and Bowness Park.

In addition, we invite entertainers and educators to come to the CEC and meet the children. This includes Rick Hertert, the Jumping Jellies dance group, magic and puppet shows with Just Kidding, Mad Science and staff from the Calgary Public library who teach the children about books and promote lifelong learning.

We also teach children the value of recycling in helping keep our planet sustainable.
